Can we change the world through music and the arts? Can we help unite people of diverse backgrounds through rhythm, harmony, and color?
Can we build a platform for such a movement using technologies that connect and inspire? Playing for Change and HiDef believes so, and we’re working together to make it a reality.
Power to the People
Building on the global success of the Playing for Change series of music videos and “power to the people” albums, the Playing for Change Foundation is “creating positive change through music & arts education.” The Foundation has reached the lives of many by building music schools throughout the world.
Now, in partnership with HiDef, they are poised to increase reach and impact by creating a unique one day global event, Playing For Change Day, to raise funds for their educational programs.
How will they harness the power of technology towards the cause?

Join the Movement
If you’re a musician, music lover, or simply a great cause advocate, join Playing for Change Day now and start thinking about how you can support the cause of unity through each note played on September 17, 2011.
Connecting and Empowering with Technology
Working closely as partners of the Foundation, HiDef is currently building a technology platform for a first-of-a-kind, global music event for social change through music. This event, Playing for Change Day, will allow musicians of all backgrounds to pledge a performance to the cause of peace. These performances will take place on street corners, cafes, and stages around the world on September 17, 2011.
The best part? Artists who take part will also be able to create fundraising goals that enable their fans to donate to one of the school’s programs, either online prior to the event, or right from their phone during the event.
The project will leverage industry leading technologies from Facebook to YouTube to create this one of a kind mobile, social experience.
We’re excited to be using the best of web and mobile technologies to promote global peace and opportunity through music.
