By designing a simple and highly-usable user experience around a massive catalog, we helped our client Faith Comes By Hearing use technology to sustain unprecedented engagement towards its mission: making the Bible accessible to everyone, anywhere, for free.

From Ambition to Fruition
At the early stages of the concept, there were a lot of gaps to fill in infrastructure and content before we could build an excellent user experience. Our client was an audio ministry. How would users enjoy audio-only within the context of a highly visual interface (iPhone’s beautiful touch screen)? We knew then that we needed to build an infrastructure for Faith Comes By Hearing to allow the inclusion of text for their catalog of languages.
The result? The Bible.is app is powered by the world’s largest digital scripture library.
From Concept to Capacity
This new platform helped us define our new strategic process, NIRDS. The idea for Bible.is was born out of a needs assessment meeting, and the process used to build it was made possible by engaging our client more like a partner than a customer.
The result of this high-touch, common-goal relationship? Within two months, the app had reached the Top 50 of all free apps and gained notoriety the world over and is now a regular top free reference app in iTunes and the Android Marketplace.
Other milestones in this ambition-to-fruition story:
- The app has been used by over 2 million people on iOS, Android, and the Web in over 80 countries.
- We helped champion an integrated brand and marketing strategy that affected every outlet and was driven by the quality of the app first and foremost: app stores, press releases, blogs, social networks, and paid marketing.
- An intuitive, yet innovative interface seamlessly presented text and audio for a truly immersive experience that is still unparalleled.
- Fast-paced, monthly release cycles communicated to early users that the app was not only a serious entry, but one that our client was committed to for a long time.
