Denver House of Genius

Last night I got a chance to check out the Denver chapter of House of Genius. The format is incredible and justifies the moniker. The idea is to bring together a diverse group of entrepreneurs and social change thinkers–in an anonymous context.

Qualifying your business or title, revealing only your first name, and of course passing out business cards; all of these activities are deferred to the end.

The discussion revolves around 3 pitches brought to the table by entrepreneurs in various stages of business and each with a specific ask. After a 5 minute presentation and brief Q&A, each of the “geniuses” is asked to respond to the question for which the Entrepreneur is seeking guidance. This round leads to suggestions, introductions and spawning new ideas on the topic. The results are incredibly candid and embrace the ideals of creativity and open discussion.

All the pitches at Denver’s House of Genius we’re tech related (although that is not usually the case). It was rewarding and interesting to hear and offer input on everything from technical patent advice to consumer buying patterns for moms. I am honored to be considered a genius and excited to meet others in the community that share a core value of innovation.
